Art and Archaeology in the Comics

In 2011, my partner, Pamela J Russell, started cutting out from our local New Hampshire newspaper The Keene Sentinel and from the Sunday Boston Globe comic strips that had themes related to art or archaeology.  By the time that we left the United States in 2017, her collection had grown to over 200.

In my retirement in Spain, I have now organized Pam’s collection into categories and made a few general comments.  I post that presentation of her collection here.

The Pamela J. Russell Collection of Art & Archaeology Comic Strips

In organizing Pam’s collection, I started to research several issues in the theory of humor and in the semiotics of images.  When I bring order to my inchoate ideas on this, I will publish that here as well.
