On Thanksgiving Day, 2013, my wife Pam and I were in the quaint Medieval German town of Gundelfingen an der Danau where we presented to the mayor and other officials a beautiful embroided military banner that Pam’s father had taken when he had been part of the US occupying force immediately after WWII.
